The short answer
A link in bio for exclusive content is a bio page where some links are open to everyone and others are locked. A locked link opens only after the follower pays a set price or leaves an email address. It is how a creator sells a replay, a full tutorial, a template or a private invite straight from Instagram, TikTok or YouTube without building a store or a membership site.
ExclusiveLink is built around that lock. You mark a link as paid or email-gated, the follower unlocks it on the page, and you see what each locked link earned and which post sent the buyer. Pro carries a 0% platform fee and runs on your own domain. Paid links are one-time unlocks, so a monthly membership with its own feed still belongs on a membership platform.
01 · Three kinds of access
One page with an open door, a guest list and a ticket booth
Most followers will never pay, and that is fine. The page gives each of them something to do, and it moves the ones who want more up one step at a time.
Open link
The door everyone walks through
Your latest video, your shop, your podcast. No lock. This is what keeps the page useful to the follower who is only browsing.
Email-locked link
The guest list
The follower leaves an email and the link opens. You get a subscriber tagged with the exact thing they wanted, exported whenever you like.
Paid link
The ticket booth
The price sits on the button. The follower pays by card and the destination opens right after. No cart, no account, no second site.

What creators put behind an exclusive content link
Anything that already lives at a URL can be locked. You do not upload the file to us; the lock sits on the link.
The full version of the clip that went viral
A 40 second reel shows the result. The 25 minute walkthrough of how you did it is an unlisted video, and the link to it has a price. This is the simplest paid product a creator can make, because the demand is already in the comments asking for it.
Templates and files
A Notion board, a preset pack, a meal plan PDF on your own drive. The payment opens the share link.
A private community invite
The invite link to a Discord server, a group chat or a close circle, sold once or traded for an email.
Replays and live sessions
Last week's workshop recording, or the join link for the next one. On Pro the link can go live and expire on a schedule.
First look at a drop
The product page a day before everyone else sees it, opened for followers who joined your list.
Whatever you lock has to be yours to share and has to follow our terms and the rules of the place that hosts it. If the plan is to sell a shelf of downloads, the link in bio to sell digital products setup covers pricing and delivery in more depth.
What the follower sees
From locked to open without leaving your page
Before
Editing my wedding films, start to finish
1 hr 52 min video, timeline file included
Card payment. Opens as soon as it clears.
After
Editing my wedding films, start to finish
Unlocked
The follower never has to create an account or find their way through a storefront. That matters on a phone, inside an in-app browser, with a thumb and about ten seconds of patience. The payment side of this is covered step by step on the link in bio payment page guide.
Where can I sell exclusive content
Where to sell exclusive content and what each place keeps
Four common homes for paid content. They solve different problems, and plenty of creators use two of them together.
| Where | How fans pay | What the platform keeps | Who holds the fan's contact | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Instagram Subscriptions | Monthly, inside the Instagram app | App store fees apply to in-app purchases | Subscriber-only stories, reels and lives for an audience that stays on Instagram | |
| Patreon | Monthly membership | 10% platform fee on newer pages, plus processing | Patreon, shared with you | An ongoing feed of posts for members |
| YouTube channel memberships | Monthly, inside YouTube | 30% (you receive 70% of net revenue) | YouTube | Members-only videos for a channel already in the Partner Program |
| A paid link on your bio page | Once, per link, by card | 0% platform fee on Pro, card processing only | You | Single pieces: a replay, a tutorial, a template, an invite |
Patreon's 10% applies to pages created after August 4, 2025. YouTube states that it pays partners 70% of net revenue from channel memberships. Instagram and the app stores set their own terms and change them, so check the current payout page before you plan around a number. Card processing applies everywhere, including on our plans.
Stay on a membership platform if
What you sell is a monthly relationship: a steady feed of posts, tiers, a comment section for members. A paid link is a one-time unlock and does not bill anyone every month. Put your Patreon or membership link on the bio page as a normal button and keep it there.
Use a locked bio link if
You sell individual pieces, you are tired of a percentage coming off every sale, or you want the buyer's email in your own list instead of inside someone else's app. It also works beside a membership, as the place for the one-off items that do not fit a monthly tier.
05 · Know what sells
See which post sold the unlock
A paid link is only useful if you can tell what drove people to it. The page counts every step, so you learn whether the price is wrong, the label is wrong or the traffic is wrong.
-
Revenue per link. Each paid link shows its own unlocks and income, next to the free links beside it.
-
Source by platform and post. Tag the link you share on TikTok differently from the one on Instagram and see which audience actually pays.
-
A/B tested labels on Pro. "Get the full tutorial" against "Watch all 25 minutes". The page splits visitors and reports the winner.
-
A list that leaves with you. Emails from gated links export as a CSV with the link each person asked for. More on the link in bio with email capture page.

How to sell exclusive content from your Instagram bio
-
Step 1
Host the content where it lives best
An unlisted video, a shared folder, a private doc, an invite link. Copy the URL only buyers should have.
-
Step 2
Add it as a locked link
Paste the URL, write a label that says what is inside, then choose the lock: a price, or an email address.
-
Step 3
Keep open links beside it
Leave your free content on the page. A bio page with nothing but locks reads as a paywall and loses the casual visitor.
-
Step 4
Put the page in your bio and say so
Paste the address into Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, then name the locked item in the post that teases it. On Pro, use your own domain.
On pricing the unlock: start where a follower can decide without thinking, then raise it once the link has sold a few dozen times. The gated content guide covers when to ask for an email instead of money, and the custom domain link in bio page covers moving the whole thing to links.yourname.com.

Exclusive content link in bio questions
How to sell exclusive content on Instagram?
There are two routes. Instagram Subscriptions lets eligible creators charge a monthly price for subscriber-only stories, reels and lives inside the app. The other route is your bio link: put a page there with a paid link, so followers pay once and the content opens. The bio route works for any account that can add a link and keeps the buyer's details with you.
What is exclusive content on Instagram?
On Instagram, exclusive content is what a creator posts only for paying subscribers through the Subscriptions feature, such as subscriber-only stories, reels, posts and live videos. Creators also use the phrase more loosely for anything sold off the platform through the link in their bio, like a full tutorial, a replay or a private group invite.
Where can I sell exclusive content?
You can sell it as a monthly membership on Patreon, YouTube channel memberships or Instagram Subscriptions, or as one-time purchases through a paid link on your bio page. Memberships suit an ongoing feed. A paid link suits single items, takes no percentage on a 0% plan and leaves you holding the customer list.
Do people pay for exclusive content?
Yes, when it solves something specific. Followers pay for the full method behind a result they already saw, for time saved by a template, or for direct access to you. They rarely pay for more of the same posts they get for free. The comments asking "how did you do this" are the best guide to what to lock.
What are the best apps to sell exclusive content?
For a monthly membership, Patreon and YouTube memberships are the established choices. For a storefront of digital products, Stan Store at $29 a month with a 0% fee is strong. For locking individual links behind a price or an email on your own domain, ExclusiveLink is built for exactly that. Our best link in bio app comparison sets the tools side by side.
Can Linktree lock a link for exclusive content?
Linktree offers locks such as a subscribe lock and a code lock, and it sells digital products with a seller fee of 12% on Free and 9% on Starter and Pro, falling to 0% only on Premium. It does not offer a custom domain on any plan. The options are compared in our Linktree Payment Lock alternatives post.
Does ExclusiveLink take a cut of what I sell?
Pro carries a 0% platform fee on paid links, and Creator carries a small one. Card processing applies on every plan, as it does on every platform. There is no percentage on email-gated links, since no money changes hands. Every plan is on the pricing page.
