Best Link in Bio for Gumroad Sellers Paying 10% Fees

· by ExclusiveLink

The best link in bio for a Gumroad seller depends on where the sales come from. If most buyers find you through Gumroad Discover, or you sell a few copies a month, your Gumroad profile on a custom domain is the right bio link and costs nothing extra. If your followers on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube are the ones buying, Gumroad's 10% plus $0.50 on every direct sale starts to cost more than a flat monthly plan, and you want to know which post sold each copy. That is the seller ExclusiveLink is built for.

Below are six setups US sellers actually use, priced from each vendor's own pages, with the cut each takes on a sale and the point where switching pays for itself.

"Cut on a direct sale" means the platform's own fee on a sale you sent there yourself. Card processing is included in Gumroad's fee and comes on top for the others.

When Gumroad's fee stops being cheap

Gumroad charges nothing until you sell, which is exactly right when you are starting. The fee is 10% plus $0.50 on every direct sale, card processing included. On a $20 template that is $2.50 a copy. Sold from a paid link on ExclusiveLink Pro, the same copy costs card processing only, about $0.88 at 2.9% plus $0.30. The difference is about $1.62 a sale.

Card processing is taken as 2.9% plus $0.30. Illustration on a $20 sale.

Divide the plan price by the saving per sale and you get the breakeven. With Pro billed monthly it lands around 60 direct sales a month at $20, or about $1,200 in sales. Billed yearly, Pro pays for itself at roughly 30 sales. Creator saves about $1.22 a sale and breaks even near 40 sales a month on monthly billing. Below those numbers, stay on Gumroad and link the profile from your bio. Above them, the fee you are paying Gumroad is larger than a plan would be.

Keep the bookkeeping honest when you switch. Payouts now arrive from two places, so export both and let a tool turn the combined bookkeeping export into a profit and loss statement before your accountant asks what the 10% line was.

Discover sales stay on Gumroad, and that is fine

A bio page does nothing for buyers who find you inside Gumroad's marketplace, and you should not try to move them. Those sales cost 30%, but they are customers you would not have reached. Most sellers who switch keep every product listed on Gumroad and change only where their own followers are sent. The bio page sells the launch to people who already know you. Gumroad keeps selling to strangers.

What a Gumroad seller's bio page should hold

  • The product from your latest post, as a paid link that opens the download after payment. Relabel it every time you post.
  • Two or three bestsellers. Paid links for the ones your followers buy, Gumroad links for the ones Discover sells.
  • An email-locked freebie. A sample page, a mini pack or a checklist. On launch day that list is worth more than any algorithm.
  • The next launch. On Pro, schedule the button to go live at the announced minute, so you are not editing links during the launch.
  • Everything that is not a product. YouTube, newsletter, a Patreon if you have one. Creators with patrons will find the Patreon link in bio setup useful.

Which post sold the copy

Gumroad shows referrers, so you can see that a sale came from Instagram. It cannot tell you which of last week's twelve reels did it. Put a tagged link in each place you post, such as yourname.com?utm_campaign=notion-budget-reel, and Pro files every click and paid unlock from that visit under the campaign. After a month you know that the budget template reel sold 22 copies and the desk tour sold none, and you know what to make next. The full setup is on the link in bio tracking page.

Who should stay on Gumroad alone

Sellers making under about $1,000 a month in direct sales, sellers who get most orders from Discover, and sellers who sell one product and post rarely. For all three, the profile on your own domain is the honest answer. A selling bio page earns its plan when your followers are the buyers, you launch regularly and you want the email list in your hands. If that is you, the link in bio to sell digital products page walks through delivery and pricing.

Gumroad link in bio questions

How do I add my Gumroad link to my Instagram bio?

Copy your profile address, yourname.gumroad.com or your custom domain, then in Instagram tap Edit profile, Links and Add external link, and paste it. If you sell from several places or want an email list, paste a bio page instead and put your bestsellers on top.

Can you put a Gumroad link in your TikTok bio?

Yes, once TikTok shows your account the Website field, which it does for accounts with 1,000 followers or a business account. Go to Edit profile, then Website. Below that, point viewers to your Instagram bio, where the link field works for every account.

Can Gumroad use a custom domain?

Yes. Gumroad lets you point a custom domain at your profile from Advanced settings with a CNAME to domains.gumroad.com, and it issues the SSL certificate. That puts your store on your own name but keeps the 10% plus $0.50 fee on every direct sale.

Is Gumroad or Stan Store better for selling digital products?

Gumroad is better at low volume because it has no monthly fee, and its marketplace can bring new buyers. Stan Store is better when you sell a course or coaching to your own audience and earn enough that $29 a month beats 10% per sale. Neither offers sales tracking by individual post.

What is the cheapest way to sell digital products from my bio?

At a few sales a month, Gumroad, because you pay only when you sell. Past about 40 to 60 direct sales a month at $20, a flat plan with a low or zero platform fee costs less. Run your own numbers with the per-sale saving divided into the plan price.
